Guide · first moves
The first day decides more than buyers realize: evidence ages out, accounts get locked mid-panic, and the single most common first move — opening a new account — is the one that can end the fight before it starts. Here are the first moves for each of the five fights, in order, and the three never-dos that apply to all of them.
| Your fight | First moves, in order |
|---|---|
| Refund taken back | 1. Save the re-charge email and the statement line. 2. Pull the return's tracking and drop-off receipt. 3. Reply to the decision email with both attached. 4. Check the settlement window for your return date. |
| Refund never arrived | 1. Check your Amazon balance (routing) and your bank's posting window. 2. Confirm tracking shows delivery. 3. Reply to the refund email with the timeline. 4. Check the settlement window. |
| "Empty box" / wrong item | 1. Find the weight receipt (or start the carrier reprint today). 2. Screenshot the tracking history. 3. Reply to the denial with the two numbers: item weight, recorded weight. 4. Ask for the record to be corrected, not just the refund paid. |
| Warning letter | 1. Do not answer in chat. 2. Compute your own numbers: orders, returns, reasons, two years. 3. Reply to the letter itself, with the numbers. 4. Start the 90-day pattern reset. |
| Closed, balance trapped | 1. Download/screenshot everything you can still reach — access narrows. 2. Gather gift-card receipts and photograph the physical cards. 3. Reply to the closure letter with the pack. 4. Set expectations by the honest odds, then climb the ladder. |
1. Never open a new account to replace a closed or warned one. Amazon links accounts by payment method, address, device, and household; the new account inherits the closure — and can take a fresh balance with it. 2. Never hand your login to a "helper." Amazon's doors never ask for it; we never ask for it; anyone who does is the scam. 3. Never fire the chargeback first. It is a last door with an account-shaped price — read the warning before it crosses your mind at 2 a.m.
Not sure which fight you're in? The free checker sorts it in four picks — what happened, the proof you hold, one date — and gives you your door, your steps, your deadlines, and an honest grade of your case. Run the checker →
The pages above are the map. The kit is the paperwork: letters structured around your proof, the evidence pack, and the trackers that keep every deadline visible.
